Following its recent ESRB rating, Arrowhead Games’ Helldivers 2 seems primed for release in the coming months. However, Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson reports that it could be coming sooner than expected.
Henderson received a Sony partnership program mission briefing “under the condition of anonymity.” It tells content creators to “mention that the game will be released in October.” An exact release date wasn’t provided, but it’s believed this particular bit was a mistake.
Of course, the other possibility is that this is part of a series of hands-on previews dropping soon after the official announcement. With rumors claiming a PlayStation event is happening in August (where the PS5 Slim will allegedly be revealed) and Gamescom Opening Night Live coming up, it probably won’t be long before a release date is revealed.
Helldivers 2 is in development for PS5 and PC. Unlike its predecessor, it’s a third-person shooter, though you’ll still slay “hostile” aliens. Head here for more details and co-op gameplay, with features like friendly fire making a return.
