Kanye West Is Back on Twitter
Kanye West is back on Twitter/X.
The social network reinstated the rappers account on Saturday, 8 months after suspending it for posting a Nazi swastika inside the Star of David. The post came after West appeared on the show InfoWars where he repeatedly praised both Nazis and Adolph Hitler.
At the time, West posted on Truth Social that his account was locked for 12 hours.
However, shortly after Twitter owner Elon Musk tweeted “FAFO” in reference to the suspension(Opens in a new window), standing for “F### Around and Find Out.”
While West is back on X, The Wall Street Journal notes(Opens in a new window) he won’t have advertisements appear next to his posts and he won’t be eligible to monetize his account. West, who goes by Ye, had his account reinstated on the service Saturday after reassuring the platform “that he wouldn’t use the platform to share antisemitic or otherwise harmful language,” the paper said, citing a person familiar with the matter.
As of Sunday afternoon, West had yet to post any new tweets since his reinstatement(Opens in a new window). Currently his most recent post on the social network is from December 1, 2022.
While West was suspended by Musk, shortly after gaining control of Twitter Musk removed suspensions for a number of accounts that had been suspended prior to his purchase of the company. Most notably, Musk unsuspended the account of former President Donald Trump. Trump also has yet to tweet since his reinstatement.
West’s reinstatement comes at an interesting time for the company. This week Twitter rebranded to X, and erected a new sign on top of its San Francisco headquarters which has not been well received by the city nor the company’s neighbors.
