Final Fantasy 14 fans have been enjoying one of the biggest weekends in recent history for the MMORPG. Topping the bill of big announcements was the reveal of the game's next expansion, Dawntrail. If you're worried this will be the last significant addition to Final Fantasy 14's universe, you can put those fears to bed. Producer Naoki Yoshida has hinted there will be at least three more before his 60th birthday.
He's actually done a little more than hint at it. In an interview with Famitsu, shared by aitaikimochi on Twitter, Yoshi-P revealed he already has ideas for the next two expansions mapped out in his head and hopes to get them and one more out there before he's 60. For the record, he's 50 and will have turned 51 by the time we're all playing Dawntrail next year.

"At the moment I have some story ideas swimming in my head for at least two more expansions after Dawntrail," Yoshida told Famitsu. "I hope to at least have three more expansions by the time I’m 60 years old." That means, despite the success of Final Fantasy 16 and the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in early 2024, Square Enix isn't even close to being done with Final Fantasy 14. In fact, we'll probably all still be playing it when Final Fantasy 17 is released. Potentially the first in the main series that isn't numbered after it was suggested the Roman numerals might be dropped to avoid confusion for newer players.
It's full steam ahead on Dawntrail for the time being, an expansion that will take Final Fantasy 14 to a brand new, somewhat unfamiliar world, Tural. Tural looks and feels a lot brighter and upbeat than what players have been used to. Even Meteor is looking fresher and happier,
