Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida has spoken out against negative comments the studio behind the game has been getting, calling these comments “tiresome”. As spotted by Eurogamer, Yoshida spoke during a special documentary about the studio that was aired in Japan.
Translated by streamer Audrey of Aitai Kimochi, Yoshida spoke about seeing negativity and malice by trolls online.
“There’s a lot of people who just yell at you, people I’ve never seen, met, or talked to before,” said Yoshida according to the translation. “It’s weird. What did we do to them? Perhaps they just write it from a place of negativity and malice. It’s tiresome.”
Final Fantasy 16, which was released earlier this month, has seen quite a bit of success, with publisher Square Enix considering options for potential DLC for the game. The company has also recently been soliciting fan feedback for future development.
Square Enix has also stated that it considers the sales of Final Fantasy 16—which is currently only available on the PS5—to be “extremely strong“. For more details about the game, check out our review, and our thoughts on its best boss fights.
