Final Fantasy XIV’s next expansion, ‘Dawntrail’, has been announced during a Fan Fest event in Las Vegas.
The fifth major expansion for Square Enix’s popular MMO will be released this summer, director Naoki Yoshida said during a keynote on Friday.
Dawntrail takes place in the tropical island setting of Eorzea’s New World, which Yoshida described as like a “beach vacation” for players, according to Gamespot.
Dawntrail also introduces a new hub city, Tuliyollal, a level cap increase, new jobs, dungeons, enemies, gear, recipes, and more. In addition, a version 7.0 patch will introduce improved graphics to the game, it’s claimed.

On Friday, Square Enix also announced additional content coming to the free trial version of Final Fantasy XIV, which will add everything from Heavensward to the start of Shadowbringers.
Finally, in a surprise announcement, Xbox boss Phil Spencer appeared on stage to confirm that the game is coming to current-gen Xbox systems.
The MMO will be officially launching in Spring 2024, but an open beta will be launching alongside the game’s upcoming Patch 6.5 update, which is likely due in the coming months.
According to Xbox, the Series X version of the game will support 4K graphics, while both the Series X and Series S versions will benefit from fast loading times.
