Diablo 4's much anticipated first season is just around the corner, and players are buzzing about Season of the Malignant. While we know that Season 1 begins on July 20, we may have inadvertently discovered when it ends as well — and when Season 2 begins! Developer Livestream CountdownsDuring Blizzard's Developer Update Livestream, some of the images had dates posted on them indicating when Season 1 might end. Since we clearly can't see these in the live game, we can only speculate as to when these images were taken — and at their accuracy. One image indicated 102 days, while another indicated 98 days — which, from the date of the Livestream, would indicate October 12, 2023. If we consider that this image was intended to be viewed on the date Season 1 begins, we'd be looking at October 26, 2023. However, we also learned in the Developer Livestream that seasons are intended to be at least 12 weeks long, and this would line up with the October 12 date, assuming the 102 and 98 day images were taken ahead of time on a test server.
Gameplay Guides End DateToday, Blizzard released a video in their Gameplay Guide series featuring loads of Seasonal details and explanations, and another image was found: this time, indicating a specific end date for Season 1: If we speculate that Season 2 begins exactly 12 weeks after Season 1, then it makes sense for Season 1 to end a few days early to allow for a period of downtime- and for a prepatch, like the one being deployed on July 18, to be ready to smoothly update and launch the next few months.
