Our Mage Guide is updated for Patch 10.1.5 and a lot has changed! A substantial rework of Fire brings new talents as well as the removal of Rune of Power and some major improvements to Sun King's Blessing. Patch 10.1.5 Fire Mage Guide Fire Mage received a partial rework to the talent tree in 10.1.5. In addition to new talents, Flamestrike and Cauterize are now baseline and Rune of Power has been completely removed.
Pyroclasm is also missing in the new talent tree, but it is still around! It has been baked into Sun King's Blessing, which means that the notoriously annoying hard-cast for a short Combustion buff now packs a hefty punch by tripling the damage of your Pyroblast or Flamestrike that activates it. The activation buff for Sun King's Blessing has also been extended, which should make it a lot easier to carry over downtime, or from pull to pull. An alternative to Sun King's Blessing has also been added with Unleashed Inferno.
Unleashed Inferno is an alternative to Sun King's Blessing that increases the potency of Combustion while greatly reducing its cooldown as well. Having a playstyle that does not involve hard-casting would be nice but this talent is around 8.4% behind Sun King's Blessing, making it a substantial damage loss.Fuel the Fire gives Flamestrike a chance equal to your Crit chance to provide Hot Streak. This means that you no longer require two builders per Flamestrike in AoE.
It should be mentioned that Flamestrike is still a ground targeted spell, which means that Flame Patch will still require targets to stay somewhat still for its 8 second duration.
