Marvel Games announced today that it is working alongside Electronic Arts on a new, single player, Black Panther game. EA's new Cliffhanger Games studio, who include devs previously at Monolith Productions (Shadow of Mordor), are the team behind the upcoming AAA game. To say fans are excited to explore Wakanda would be an understatement.
Black Panther, or T'Challa, was first introduced way back in 1966, in issue 52 of Fantastic Four. The first black Marvel superhero (predating both Blade and Luke Cage), he came to prominence for modern audiences in the MCU with Chadwick Boseman's portrayal over four films. More recently, after Boseman's untimely passing, Letitia Wright's character Shuri became the new Black Panther in 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Black Panther has never had his own game before. He's only appeared as a playable character in games such as Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Marvel's Avengers, and let's not forget his Fortnite skin. His debut game is bound to be a big deal, with a world and lore as rich as Wakanda's.
