Lords of the Fallen PS5 Shows Tons of Promise in 18-Minute Gameplay Deep Dive | Push Square
With titles like Assassin's Creed Mirage, Alan Wake 2, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2 releasing around the same time, PS5 game Lords of the Fallen may not be something you pick up on day one. However, a new 18-minute gameplay deep dive from developer Hexworks is proof of why it should remain on your wishlist, as the current-gen experience appears to be shaping up nicely ahead of a 13th October 2023 release date. Check out the extensive gameplay demonstration above.
Starting off with a boss fight, footage shows how death isn't the end of your journey. You can resurrect in the realm of the dead, Umbral. This gives you one last chance to survive, and in the gameplay presentation at least, it results in the boss being defeated. From there, it's revealed how using an Umbral Lamp can show hidden platforms and objects within the environment, which are manifested from the other realm. You can cross between the two realms, but doing so consumes a life and it's explained that returning back to our world isn't an easy task.
Other highlights from the gameplay presentation include a look at co-op, Vestige (like bonfires in Dark Souls) creation, the mixture of melee action and magical abilities, and how some of the many worlds come together.
