June 6 will be a day to look forward to for fans, as it marks the release of the game's big summer update. Avalanche Software's latest had quite the lengthy release process, first coming to current-gen consoles and PC ahead of belated releases for older PlayStation and Xbox hardware, and finally the Nintendo Switch release late last year. With apparenlty no plans for DLC on the horizon, though, 's summer update is likely to be the biggest content drop the game receives post-launch.
June 6 was revealed as the launch date for the summer update via the official X (formerly Twitter) account. The update was announced early in 2024, but few details were divulged beyond a summer release window.
's summer update will bring a handful of new content additions to the wizarding world game, including a photo mode, a previously platform-exclusive quest, the ability to reset Talent Points, and a handful of in-game items. Without clarification otherwise, the summer update will presumably be live on all supported platforms on June 6.
The most robust addition to via the summer update is the Haunted Hogsmeade quest releasing on platforms other than PS4 and PS5, to which it was exclusive previously. Although typically referred to as Haunted Hogsmeade, the actual quest in-game is called "," and can be started in Hogsmeade during the game's winter portion. The quest involves a house-elf named Penny, who, under false pretenses, propositions the student to purchase and run a store in the village.
The other most significant additions in the summer update are the photo mode and the ability to reset the player character's Talent Points, both highly requested since the game's initial launch. The former is especially enticing, as 's incredibly realized castle is one of the game's greatest accomplishments.
