Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash received a new character trailer showcasing how it feels to play as Maki Zen’in, Toge Inumaki, and Panda, the three second-years at Tokyo Jujutsu High. These might be some of the more interesting characters to incorporate into an arena-fighter like Cursed Clash if for no other reason than their abilities are more than meet the eye.
In the case of Maki Zen’in, she canonically doesn’t have much — if any — cursed energy. So, she’ relies ‘ll rely on her cursed tool polearm Playful Cloud to dish out as much damage as possible. It looks like she chains together ground and aerial combos to give her the upper hand in tense combat.
Toge Inumaki uses cursed speech, meaning he has opted to only ever speak in rice ball ingredients such as “salmon,” “salted roe,” and “pollock roe.” This is because his speech carries more power than your average person — if he tells someone to “go die,” they would be compelled to do so.
That said, it’s very interesting to see how that ability translates to Cursed Clash. Inumaki seems like a predominantly close-range attacker, but players can use his cursed speech through commands such as “fall,” which compels opponents to be slammed into the ground. There’s also “get twisted,” to twist opponents like a wet hand towel, and “stop,” which prevents opponents from moving.
Last up is Panda, the Abrupt Mutated Cursed Corpse, and brings a unique playstyle involving mid-to-short range physical attacks. I appreciate that his default punch has a rather wide berth, for players who need to close gaps quickly. In the trailer, Panda uses Gorilla Mode, which transforms him into a gigantic monstrosity unleashing pain onto his enemies.
