Square Enix has revealed several new announcements at the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival 2023 in London as part of a deeper look into its upcoming expansion, Dawntrail. This includes a new Viper job alongside a Final Fantasy XI crossover raid and a Final Fantasy XVI crossover called “The Path Infernal.” Additionally, an open beta test for the Xbox Series X|S version is scheduled for mid-January to February 2024.
The Viper class focuses on close-range combat with two one-handed weapons, but they can be combined to create a single two-handed one. Its purpose is to unleash devastating damage swiftly.
The crossover raid with Final Fantasy XI is called the Echoes of Vana’diel, which is named after the world in which the game is set in. The Final Fantasy XVI crossover is a series of quests that allows players to take on Ifrit and get their own Torgal mount. Protagonist Clive Rosfield will join players too. More information about the expansion will be shared at the next Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival that’s taking place in Tokyo in January.
The Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail expansion is set to launch sometime in summer 2024 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The upcoming expansion includes a bunch of extra features, such as a Fall Guys collaboration, level cap increase from 90 to 100, multiple new jobs, new dungeons, and new gear. This is also the first time Xbox players will have access to the game in almost 10 years.
