Super Mario RPG's remake has randomly added another reference to Luigi, while also making a scene found in Nimbus Land a little less mean about Mario.
As fantastic as Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is, there's one big thing that's noticeably absent for the whole adventure. Well, one big person, is probably more accurate - everyone's real favourite Mario brother, Luigi. The loveable green plumber doesn't show up at all in Mario's first RPG adventure, something that sadly carries over to the remake.
Strangely, Luigi actually appears in the instruction booklet for Super Mario RPG, and makes several comments about a game that he doesn't get invited to show up in.
Although Luigi doesn't make a physical appearance in Super Mario RPG, the original game did at least mention him. If you go to Star Hill, one of the wishing stars you can talk to says, "I wanna be a great plumber like my brother Mario". This easter egg is kept in the remake, although the dialogue for it has changed to, "I wanna help out my older brother, Mario". That's not all, though, as the Super Mario RPG's remake also adds a brand-new reference to Luigi.
As pointed out by GameXplain, during Mario's adventure through Nimbus Land, he must disguise himself as a statue to be allowed entry into the palace. While being dragged in there by Garro, Valentina asks who the statue is meant to represent. Garro will then say the golden Mario is called, "In Search of Lost Brother", which is a nice nod to Luigi being absent from the game and seemingly being missing this time around.
Garro will then go on to say his moustache represents his "kind feelings for his younger brother", while the sideburns convey his "sense of heart", and his legs can "leap any distance in
