Apple iPhone users may soon get this new SMS feature! iOS 16 is expected to be rolled out to everyone around the upcoming iPhone 14 launch, but ahead of that, Apple has just rolled out the second developer beta for iOS 16 for the Apple iPhones including the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, iPhone 11, and other iPhones. The update hints that Apple is planning to revamp the message filtering option for iPhone users, a TechCrunch report has suggested.
This suggests that iPhone users will get filter extensions, just like the one built by Truecaller or Apple’s own SMS filter available in India and Brazil. With this, iPhone users will be able to classify non-personal messages into 12 subcategories under “Transactions” and “Promotions.” The Transactions category includes - Finance, Reminders, Orders, Health, Public Services, Weather, Carrier, Rewards and Others while the Promotions include - Offers, Coupons, and other subcategories.
Apple recently held the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2022, which introduced several OS updates for iPhone, Macbooks, Apple Watch and more. Among these, Apple added a bunch of new features for iPhone users with iOS 16. During the WWDC 2022, Apple detailed how developers can use these categories in their SMS filters. The report says that based on this, there might be a chance that the new categories will only be available for Indian iPhone users.
Not just these filters, but iOS 16 may also bring a new feature to spam messages to carriers with a new “Report Junk”.
