If you've had your eye on a Hyundai EV, now might be the time to buy. The company is offering a free home charger plus a $600 "installation credit," for up to $1,100 in savings.
"At Hyundai, we are focused on offering a wide range of high-quality EVs for our customers to choose from, but we know that the charging infrastructure and the process of preparing their homes is at the forefront of the minds of many EV-curious buyers,” says José Muñoz, president and global COO of Hyundai Motor Company and president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America. “With this offer, we’re making it easier for everyone to go electric."
The ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV Charger offer applies to the models below, if you purchase between Sept. 21 and Oct. 31, 2023:
2023 Ioniq 5
2024 Ioniq 5
2024 Ioniq 6
2023 Kona Electric
These are some top-notch EVs. The Editors' Choice-winning Hyundai Ioniq 5 is a popular alternative to the Tesla Model Y, and the Ioniq 6 for the Tesla Model 3. I drove Ioniq 6 for a week (below), and found it to be a high-range, design-forward option that could satisfy most drivers.
As for the Kona Electric, it may be the most affordable on the list, but keep in mind a much improved 2024 version will hit dealers this fall, so you may want to wait.
Another thing to consider: Hyundai is not one of the seven brands that have partnered with Tesla to make their EVs compatible with Superchargers. So your options will be more limited on the road, though most people do 80-90% of their EV charging at home.
After purchasing, Hyundai will provide all customers a coupon code to redeem the offer on the Hyundai Home Marketplace within 90 days of purchasing. Then, an advisor will walk you through the installation process.
