PvP Honor Ranking System Overview
One highly recommended addon is called Ranker on Curseforge, Ranker will show you how much Honor you will need to obtain within a specific week to Rank up. This addon will calculate and display various possibilities of ranking as well, calculating how many weeks it will require to rank up and how much Honor will need to be obtained each week.

As of right now in Phase 1, the highest Rank players can obtain is Rank 3 (Sergeant), which doesn't actually take a lot of investment. Especially for players looking to reach Friendly with Warsong Gulch Reputations to obtain the Ashenvale Mount, Rank 3 will come pretty easily.
Reaching Rank 3 (Seargeant) is particularly useful in Phase 1 of Season of Discovery, because you'll gain access to a very valuable Cloak, Sergeant's Cloak, which is actually Best in Slot for some classes.
When Patch 14.4 was updated on WoW Classic Realms, Blizzard included a significant update to the Ranking System, essentially overhauling it completely. The new system wouldn't pit players against others within their own faction, and would instead of a set maximum of Honor that can be earned within one week, setting that maximum at 500,000 Honor.
