It is frustrating to have a black screen in Palworld while you’re trying to play it. Hopefully, these tips below can help you launch the game properly.
Palworld developer Pocketpair was aware of the issue and pushed through a hotfix on the morning of January 19. According to them, the problem should be fixed with this latest patch.
Hotfix!
We have fixed the problem where the game was dark and unplayable.
It was occurring for some players depending on the player's network environment.
If you encounter this problem, please apply the hotfix and wait at least 10 seconds after starting the game.
There are multiple ways of trying to fix the black screen in Palworld. You’ll want to make sure your game files are up to date; this can be as simple as making sure you’re online and able to receive any patches you might not have downloaded yet.
Be sure to check the file integrity of this game. If you’re using Steam, right-click on Palworld, go to “Properties” and then “Installed Files.” Now, select “Verify Integrity of game files.”
On Xbox Game Pass, it’s simpler. Right-click on the game and select “Manage.” Then, go to “Files.” Next, click on “Verify and Repair.” You can also delete Palworld and reinstall it.
A fan named Tanner (as shared on the Palworld subreddit) also found that disabling the full screen and running the game as administrator can help with the issue as well.
Hopefully, you can find a way to play Palworld. The game’s still in Early Access, so the developers may need to continue patching and fixing issues as they arise.
