Some World of Warcraft Classic fans have discovered some interesting lore about Night Elves hidden in Season of Discovery via an NPC named Illari Duskfeather. Though the canonicity of this particular World of Warcraft NPC is debatable, the implications for her existence add a unique depth to the popular player race.
Warning: Spoilers for World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery Phase 2 below.
Season of Discovery is a Classic World of Warcraft server that introduces some new twists to the game world. Described by its developers as expanding upon “found photos” of old pieces of lore, Season of Discovery has some fascinating gems hidden within it, such as the appearance of a shadowy figure in Phase 1 who was almost certainly Xal’atath, the antagonist of retail World of Warcraft’s next expansion.
Now that Phase 2 is underway, World of Warcraft fans have discovered a Night Elf NPC named Illari Duskfeather. As reported by WoW player and lore enthusiast Portergauge, Illari is encountered at the end of a quest chain for each class to obtain one of the new Runes from World of Warcraft Classic Season of Discovery Phase 2. After discovering murdered Alliance agents, fans must follow a breadcrumb trail until they discover Illari, who is the mastermind behind the killings. Dissatisfied with the Night Elves being a part of the Alliance, the extremist must be confronted and stopped by players of both factions – though Night Elf characters have an opportunity to convince Illari to stand down, and can obtain her key without killing her.
