However, the card often puts players at a disadvantage when a player flips a tail on the very first throw.
Recently, a player showed off their unique form of revenge against Misty for poor performance in matches. The player, who goes by MurasakiZetsubou on Reddit posted a picture of a Misty card surrounded by various Bug-type Pokémon. "" the post reads. The joke, of course, is that Misty in the Pokémon anime is notoriously afraid of Bug-type Pokémon. It also helps that most Water-type Pokémon in are weak against Grass-type Pokémon, adding more insult to injury.
Building a Misty-focused deck is a dangerous proposition because it's never a guarantee whether the card will actually work. However, the rewards for using Misty are great. Players have a 1 in 8 chance of loading up a Pokémon like Articuno ex on the very first turn, providing them with an easy pathway to success. Players can also use Misty later in matches to power Starmie ex or Blastoise ex and enable them to use their powerful attacks in a hurry.
The best way to use Misty is to make sure that a deck isn't dependent on the energy acceleration the card can provide. For instance, using a Starmie ex focused deck can be successful with or without Misty, as Starmie ex only needs two energy to be effective. Using a low-cost energy Pokémon as a first line of attack and a more energy-dependent Pokémon (like Articuno or Blastoise) is probably the best way to mitigate Misty not providing any energy 50% of the time.
