Samsung’s switch to titanium did not make the Galaxy S24 Ultra drastically lighter than the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but what it did do was make it more durable. Pair the new chassis with the latest Gorilla Glass Armor, and you have one of the strongest flagships made this year, as showcased by one YouTuber, who performed a series of drop and scratch tests on Samsung’s premiere handset.
The drop tests were recorded by the YouTube channel PBKreviews, which quickly gained notoriety by uploading teardown videos of popular smartphones in record time. With the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the YouTuber shows the new Titanium Violet finish, which looks absolutely stunning, so we can assume the uploader’s heart would be breaking into little pieces after performing the drop test. In the first attempt, Samsung’s latest flagship shows a small crack on the front corner, but that is to be expected because there is only so much blunt force that glass can resist.
Even when dropped from the rear side, which sports the titanium shell, we were impressed to see that the Galaxy S24 Ultra made it out relatively unscathed. Remember that the iPhone 15 Pro, which also flaunts a titanium build, had the camera housing separated from the rest of the assembly after a few drops, indicating that Samsung has crafted a better handset.
