Microsoft has today announced a PS5 version of its premiere racing game Forza Horizon 5 will release later this year in the Spring. It'll be the most up-to-date version of the base game, with its DLC packs available to buy separately. The port is being done by Panic Button, in collaboration with main developer Playground Games. While no new trailer has been published to coincide with the announcement, you can catch some older footage above.
On the Forza.net website, Playground Games said: «We are excited to see the Forza Horizon 5 community grow with new players on PS5, and we can't wait to see the creativity and skill these new creators, builders, and racers will bring to our vibrant community.» Cross-play will be enabled across PS5, Xbox, and PC, and a new content update named Horizon Realms will also come to the PS5 version.
«Realms will give players the chance to explore a curated collection of some of the community’s favorite previously released Evolving Worlds, alongside some other surprises,» the blog post reveals.
That's now another previously Xbox, PC exclusive game Microsoft has confirmed it's bringing to other platforms. It started with Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, Sea of Thieves, and Pentiment, and in the year since, has announced DOOM: The Dark Ages and The Outer Worlds 2 will launch on Sony's system day one. With today's confirmation of Forza Horizon 5 making the jump too, it's clear Microsoft is still open to exploring its back catalogue as it ports more of its games to other consoles.
The likes of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Microsoft Flight Simulator have also been rumoured to be getting PS5 ports in the coming 12 months. Will you be playing Forza Horizon 5 on PS5? Let us know in the comments below.
