Fortnite just rolled out its Halloween 2023 update. Included is the biggest UI overhaul in four years - it swaps the rectangular boxes for ones with curved edges, moves lobby options to the left, and places a focus on the Discover tab so players can more easily find Creator islands. However, the changes are not going down well with the community.
"The new UI looks unbelievably bad," Kaldyos posted on the game's subreddit. "It looks like Fortnite ported onto mobile, the right side looks blank and empty, and the whole UI looks cheap and doesn't feel good."

"Putting locker and item shop before Battle Pass and quests? Making me hold the button for emotes? Giving favourites and search their own in-the-way tabs? Removing legacy achievements/ Putting all the key menu stuff on the right?" SandwitchZebra replied. "Not to mention it looks generic".
"Epic is really trying to make Fortnite into the next Roblox," Nightwalker-Yt said.
Things aren't much better on Twitter. CharlieIntel, best known for their coverage of Call of Duty, tweeted a picture of the new layout, captioned, "Fortnite now has the huge block style/streaming UI for their lobby". The reveal was immediately met with backlash.
"It was literally fine the way it was before," @robotonini quote retweeted. "This shit has no personality to it whatsoever."
"Why are they Hulu-ifying everything?" @sultanspeech replied.
Some are even asking for an option to revert back to the old UI; "This is cursed," Grugstix said. "If there's any way to reverse this, please for the love of god tell me how."
