In many ways, Insomniac’s Spider-Man universe has achieved what the MCU failed to do: establish a relatable, epic Spidey tale that captures the flair of the classic comics. From Peter Parker’s persona to his relationship with Aunt May and his archnemeses, Insomniac’s first Spider-Man on the PlayStation 4 remains one of the finest superhero games ever made. Now, as Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 draws ever closer, we’re about to witness that same universe and story come to life once more – only this time, the stakes will be higher than ever before. Featuring an amazing (no pun intended) cast of heroes and villains, Spider-Man 2 already looks like the game that every Spidey fan has ever wanted.

One of the critical reasons why fans should be excited about this game lies in the plot. While the first game created a unique story using bits and pieces of Spidey lore, Spider-Man 2 seems ready to tackle one of the best storylines ever seen in the comic: Kraven’s Last Hunt.
Some fans might think adapting Kraven’s Last Hunt so “early” in Insomniac’s saga makes little sense. After all, the story only makes sense once we consider the long and arduous rivalry between Kraven and Spidey – something absent in the Insomniac universe so far. Still, suppose Arkham Asylum managed to tell a convincing story of old foes as the first entry in its series. In that case, it’s safe to assume that Insomniac can establish the Spider and the Hunter’s rivalry for Spider-Man 2.
The way Insomniac has utilized the Spider-Man IP is nothing short of spectacular. Many would agree that the characters in the game are the best versions of the legendary characters we’ve seen since the Raimi days.
