Indie horror visual novel, Slay the Princess, is out now on PC. The game is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and has full support for the Steam Deck. Slay the Princess features a unique pencil-based art style drawn by hand, as well as complete voice acting.
The game puts players in the shoes of a person tasked with a single mission: they must enter a cabin and slay the princess. If the player fails this mission, the world is at risk of ending. The eponymous princess, on the other hand, has plans that revolve around not dying.
Voiced by Nichole Goodnight, the princess will say anything to stop the player from killing her. The title plays with the idea of the player being given their mission by an unknown narrator, and the image of a princess being helplessly bound and awaiting her death.
Slay the Princess features a heavy emphasis on its narrative, as well as the fact that players can make a number of choices throughout the game that will all have immense impact on the game’s story. According to developer Black Tabby Games, there is no single way through the game, and each player is bound to have their own journey through its story.
