Final Fantasy XVI rethinks a lot of things about Square Enix’s long-running series, including its approach to difficulty. The game does offer two traditional difficulty options right off the bat – Action-Focused and Story-Focused – but the game also allows you to fine-tune your challenge with a variety of “Timely Accessories.” These are equippable items that allow you to make certain aspects of the game easier, but what exactly do they do, and are they something you’ll want to use? Equipping this allows you to perform melee combos by simply mashing the square button.

This one causes time to slow down briefly before enemy attacks, giving you a larger window to evade them.

This is a more extreme version of the previous accessory, which completely automates attack dodging.

Potions will be automatically used once your life bar falls below a certain point.
