Reliable rumors about 2023’s Call of Duty title have been swirling for some time, but now it seems Activision is finally getting around to (more or less) confirming them. Originally, it was reported that Call of Duty would actually be skipping 2023, with a major expansion for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II to be released instead. Later, that expansion would morph into a full game, headed up by Sledgehammer Games, reportedly titled Modern Warfare III.

Perhaps realizing the cat’s out of the bag, the official Call of Duty dropped this cheeky tweet, confirming that Modern Warfare II operators, weapons, and bundles will carry over to CoD 2023. This basically confirms that the game is a continuation of MW2.
