A video showcasing the upcoming Final Fantasy 16 reveals how similar the RPG's combat will be in comparison to Capcom's hit action title, Devil May Cry 5. The similarities between Final Fantasy 16 and Devil May Cry 5's combat likely aren't too much of a surprise to many fans who have been following the project since its development. Alongside veteran Square Enix staff members, fans got a likely indicator of its similarities when the developer revealed Final Fantasy 16's combat director, former Capcom employee Ryota Suzuki. Suzuki's previous works include high-octane action titles such as Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Devil May Cry 4, Dragon's Dogma, and Devil May Cry 5, just to name a few.
Fans got a look at Final Fantasy 16's combat earlier through various previews of the game, sometimes against the giant Eikons with bombastic set pieces or highlighted against specific story beats. Square Enix recently released a brief clip where it showed off Clive in battle against a normal enemy, along with how he works in tandem with his wolf companion Torgal. One fan compared this clip to a similar set of mechanics within Devil May Cry 5.
