New Final Fantasy 14 Players Can Claim A Free Expansion Upgrade
Players that are new to Final Fantasy 14 can continue their adventures across Eorzea by claiming a free expansion upgrade on all available platforms for a limited time. The news came as Final Fantasy 14 preps up its media cycle to talk about some content updates for players of all kinds to enjoy in the near future.
In just a few days, Final Fantasy 14 will undergo some needed server upgrades in the North American data centers. This will be in order to change some of the equipment that the game runs on and ensure that Final Fantasy 14 can run as smoothly as possible in the future. The server upgrades will require a 24-hour maintenance period, from April 3 to 4, and will coincide with the release of Patch 6.38. While it remains to be seen what tangible results the server upgrades will have on players, one piece of recent news is going to impact new players that only have access to the Final Fantasy 14 Starter Edition.

From now until May 8, Final Fantasy 14's second expansion, Stormblood, is free to claim by players that have purchased the Starter Edition of the game on any platform that the game is available on. However, this offer does not extend to Free Trial players or those that have purchased Endwalker, which includes access to all previous expansions. Originally released in June 2017, Stormblood saw players explore the regions of Gyr Abania and the Far East, push back against the oppressive tyranny of the Garlean Empire, and play as the Samurai and Red Mage jobs. Stormblood also introduced players to Zenos, one of the most divisive and unhinged villains in the Final Fantasy series, who remained fixated on fighting the Warrior of Light
