Fans Will Have to Wait a Long Time for a Final Fantasy 16 PC Port
Final Fantasy 16 will not be available on PC immediately after its six-month exclusivity window with PlayStation 5 ends. When Final Fantasy 16 was first announced by Square Enix, many incorrectly believed that the highly-anticipated JRPG would be available on both PC and PS5. It was later clarified that Final Fantasy 16 will be a pure PS5 exclusive at launch, though a potential PC port hasn't been completely ruled out.
Like many other third party games that have released as PS5 exclusives, Final Fantasy 16 will eventually have the chance to branch out to other platforms. The agreement reached between Sony and Square Enix means Final Fantasy 16 will be PS5 exclusive for at least six months after its release. The game is scheduled to launch on June 22, meaning the earliest it could come to other platforms would be some time after December 22. It would be highly unusual for Square Enix to drop a big release like Final Fantasy 16 on other platforms at the end of December, so that means fans shouldn't expect to see it on anything else until 2024 at the earliest.
Final Fantasy 16 Will Be Missing Fan Favorite Feature
Final Fantasy 16's exclusivity situation was recently expanded on by producer Naoki Yoshida. Yoshia made it crystal clear that Final Fantasy 16's potential PC port will not come out this year. According to Yoshia, this is because the development team focused its efforts on optimizing the PS5 version, ensuring that it reaches its full potential. «I would like to release a PC version at some point,» Yoshida added, but fans shouldn't expect it to come soon after the PS5 release.
