Fallout 4 Player Sets Up Ridiculous Number of Supply Lines
A Fallout 4 player has set up an absurd amount of supply lines across the entity of the wasteland. Supply lines are an integral part of Fallout 4’s settlement-building system. They allow for the transport of valuable goods between established settlements and, more thematically, help the player bridge the gap between distant people and towns in a world that has fallen apart.
When two settlements are connected via a supply line, those settlements will have access to any workshop items in either settlement. If a player has tons of settlements cleverly webbed together via supply lines spread all around the map, they’ll never be too far away from their entire supply of resources. Weapons and food cannot be transferred between settlements. Supply lines are only for sharing scrap items to be used in Fallout 4’s settlement-building system.

A provisioner is the NPC the player has assigned to transport resources between settlements. One of the cool fringe benefits of the provisioner is that once assigned to be the delivery person for two settlements, they can be found out in the open world walking their designated path. If a player wandering the wasteland runs into some trouble and there just so happens to be a provisioner walking their route nearby, the provisioner will jump into the fray to help.
