Have you ever played Please, Touch The Artwork? Well the sequel Please, Touch The Artwork 2 is dropping on February 19th, so we thought we should give you a quick lowdown on the new game! Continuing the artistic features of its predecessor, the sequel is where Waldo meets modern art.
Developed by Belgian indie developer Thomas Waterzooi, Please, Touch The Artwork 2 is free to play. It’s a hidden-object game where you get to interact with famous paintings. Waterzooi recently dropped a chic trailer on his YouTube channel, walking us through the gameplay. Why don’t you take a look at it, too?
The game takes you on a tour through five different worlds inspired by the famous Belgian artist, James Ensor’s artwork. You’ll be looking for stuff and cracking puzzles. And if you ever get stuck, the game has a hint system to help you out so you don’t get frustrated. It’s just simple clicking and zooming in to poke around the details in the art.
James Ensor worked from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. He is well-known for portraying his art through unusual fantastical elements He got a lot of his ideas from his family’s shop and the beach town of Ostend. A lot of his paintings have masked people and skeletons in vibrant colours.
Please, Touch The Artwork 2 explores unique themes like surrealism and expressionism through his paintings. The game has added neat hand-painted scenes and smooth animations to make Ensor’s artwork feel alive. In the trailer, you can spot a skeleton trying to find his way home by hopping through the art.
Please Touch the Artwork came out on January 26, 2022. It flips the classic museum rule, letting you actually touch the art. You get to interact with virtual paintings and solve some puzzles. The visuals and music of the game are quite slick and complement each other well.
