The behind-the-scenes video features Amy Adams and director Marielle Heller as they talk about how they found a connection to the story. It also highlights Heller’s vision for the movie and how she beautifully translated the story from the novel to the big screen. In addition to Adams, the film also stars Scoot McNairy, Zoë Chao, Mary Holland, Ella Thomas, Jessica Harper, Rosley Gentle, Stacey Swift, and more.
The story centers around a woman “thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler in the suburbs, who slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a canine,” reads the synopsis.
Nightbitch is written and directed by Marielle Heller, who previously made 2018’s Can You Ever Forgive Me? and 2019’s A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. She also played Alma Wheatley in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit. It is produced by Heller, Adams, Anne Carey, Sue Naegle, Christina Oh, and Stacy O’Neil. Since making its world premiere last September, the film has received a Tomatometer rating of 64% on Rotten Tomatoes.
