Fans first heard news of the upcoming game through two job postings for Techland in 2021, which only hinted that the developer was working on another AAA open-world RPG like the Dying Light games. Techland officially announced the game in May 2022, inviting people to send in job applications and revealing some of the big names already working on the project. It also gave fans an idea of what the game might look like, revealing some art and describing the game as an AAA Open World Action-RPG in a fantasy setting.

In its newest announcement, Techland has released more concept art and the promise that the game will be narrative-driven and story-focused. The fantasy epic, as the developer calls it, is still untitled, and the timeline for when the game will be released is unknown. Unfortunately, there isn't much information available, but in the meantime fans can play other open-world fantasy RPGs like Elden Ring and Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to whet their appetite.
Fans can also play Dying Light 2, which is still getting DLCs and improvements, while they wait for the new game to be released. Techland plans to continue improving Dying Light 2 even as it creates another game, and said last year that it planned to support Dying Light 2 for at least another five years.
