Nintendo has been making some moves to broaden its IP further. We have various video games and consoles. However, it wasn’t long ago that Nintendo saw the release of their Super Mario Bros animated film. Likewise, Nintendo even brought their IPs to life through the Universal Theme Parks. Select theme parks have a Nintendo world attached to them, giving fans of their beloved Mario franchise a chance to dive into the world. Filled with themed merchandise and rides, it has been a big hit. But we know that the Nintendo World will soon get an expansion, giving fans a chance to step into the world of Donkey Kong Country.
Thanks to a VGC report, we’re now discovering that the Nintendo theme park located in Japan’s Universal Studios will receive Donkey Kong Country first. This is not unexpected, as we saw this location first open up with the Super Mario area. But this will at least give fans a look at what is likely coming to their Nintendo theme park soon. According to the VGC report, the Donkey Kong Country will open up in the Spring of 2024. Likewise, we know that this new expansion will further increase the size of the Nintendo World theme park by 1.7 times.
While we will have to wait for the park to open up before we know what will be featured, it does appear that there will be a roller coaster-themed ride with mine carts. It’s even said that the track will be elevated to give riders the feeling of actually jumping the rails and flying over gaps. That said, we can also expect the area to be interactive again, much like we’ve seen with the Super Mario World. As a result, you’ll want a power band to enjoy all of the features found in the area.
