The Nintendo Switch flash cart that was shown off in a video shared online last month apparently cannot be blocked by Nintendo with a simple firmware update, according to a recent report.
Twitter/X user @AfterTimeX, the same user who shared the aforementioned video, provided some new information on the flash cart. Apparently, backups created before the release of the Mig Switch will not be compatible with the flash cart, as it uses a slightly different format for unknown reasons.
Some of the flash cart beta testers also provided some new information on online play, which currently works without issues by using the Cert/UID of a real game never shared with anyone. Once the flash cart is out, however, it is likely this trick will no longer work for obvious reasons.
While confirming this Nintendo Switch flash cart will be compatible with all currently available console models, it was also confirmed that Nintendo won't be able to block it with a firmware update, as the product has been designed to be conveniently upgradable.
