With 2024 finally here and the holiday season at an end, Fortnite has removed all Winterfest-themed items and cut off access to daily presents. But oddly, the Grappler has also been vaulted.
Originally added in 2018, the Grappler does what it says on the tin. You shoot a surface and grapple toward it, which is handy when people are building entire hotel complexes in the blink of an eye. It has been vaulted in the past, but it finally made its long-awaited return in Chapter 5: Season 1 late last year.
The Grappler was first vaulted in Season 7 in December 2018. Not to make you feel old, but that was just over five years ago.
It's unclear why it was removed, but the grapple blade remains. It offers the same general utility, letting you grapple to surfaces within range, but it also doubles as a melee weapon that you can rapidly swing at enemies.

While plenty of weapons have been removed from the loot pool to mark the end of the festive season, there is a new item to make up for it - FlowBerry Fizz.
It's a consumable bottle that you can pop open like a bottle of champagne, shooting fizz all over your pals. Those in the immediate vicinity will get up to 100 shields alongside the low gravity effect that lets you jump higher and take less fall damage.
Granted, Fortnite's 2023 Winterfest didn't prove all that popular, with many labeling it as "terrible" and "disappointing".
