There are some hobbies you can safely associate video game enthusiasts with. Movies and TV are very obvious ones, but even audiences at music, tabletop, and sports events would intersect quite largely with that of gaming. However, Blizzard decided to play it from left field and promote Diablo 4 at the Milan Fashion Week.
I'm not saying that people who go to fashion weeks don't play games, but Blizzard would have probably found a larger base of its target audience at another event. Even so, the developer partnered with artistic director Jannik Wikkelsø Davidsen, and in this case, the devil swapped her Prada for Han Kjøbenhavn.

In a conversation with NME, Davidsen revealed that the runway outfit was inspired by the "dark side and complimentary conflict” Diablo 4. "Conflict is an important word – no emotions exist without a conflict,” said Davidsen. “For me, darkness is beauty. How do you balance those two things? That generates an [entirely] new feeling. What we’re creating has a lot of volume and language in the garments we’re working with, so in that sense I’m trying to mirror the journey within Diablo as well as my own journey.”
It turns out Davidsen also used to play Diablo and hence wasn't forced to reach out of his comfort zone. "It’s been more about finding the balance and the motion of…when is this piece right for Han Kjøbenhavn and Diablo in the format we’re going to present it in?" he continued. "That has more been the journey for me – to strike the right balance, because it cannot be too gimmicky and it cannot be too emotionally detached.”
