Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may have had some issues at launch, but they were still solid (and very popular) games, so it comes as no surprise that an expansion is on the way. During the most recent Pokémon Presents we got the first details on the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet expansion “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero,” which will launch in two parts, “The Teal Mask” and “The Indigo Disk.” You can check out a teaser trailer for the expansion (sadly, no real gameplay yet), below.
As for what the expansion includes, The Teal Mask will see you visit the new “Land of Kitakami,” which seems to have a Japanese festival theme. Meanwhile, The Indigo Disk will see players visit a new school, Blueberry Academy, as an exchange student. Blueberry Academy is located outside of Scarlet and Violet’s main Paldea region, hinting there may be quite a bit of new territory to explore in this part of the expansion.
On the subject of added Pokémon, The Teal Mask will offer the new legendary Ogerpon, while The Indigo Disk will feature the legendary Terapagos. Other new Pokémon included in the Area Zero expansion include Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. Old favs like Chingling, Shiftry, Milotic, Ninetales, Vikavolt, Dewgong, Metagross, Alcremie, Espurr, Zebstrika, and Whimsiscott are also making their return.
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion won’t arrive until later this year, but in the meantime, some new features are coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, including Pokémon Home support and the ability to link up with Pokémon Go.
