Industry insider, Jeff Grubb recently revealed that there have been some unverified claims that Nintendo will be announcing the successor of the Nintendo Switch some time this year. If this sounds familiar, it's because of last year's rumour mill regarding the Switch Pro. However, Grubb claims that the rumours about a graphical update for Pokemon Scarlet & Violet seem more plausible if new hardware is also launched alongside, and he has heard that there is one in the works.
However, Grubb has now doubled down on this claim, but has some theories of what the new Switch may actually be. Speaking on the KindaFunnyGames podcast, Grubb gave an update on the rumours, and also suggested that Nintendo may reveal a console that's not a Switch Pro or a Switch 2, but something in between.

"It's still on the table that we get something – not Pro, maybe not even necessarily something like Switch 2. Maybe something like in between that's definitely an actual upgrade in terms of hardware. But in terms of the way that Nintendo positions it, it feels like they could try to straddle the line a little bit and do a 'Super Switch' that continues the generation in a way that's more significant than they've done since the Game Boy Color."
Grubb went on to mention that the thinking behind this could be that, like Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo wants to consolidate its customer base and not lose the momentum it's been building up till now. The company has earlier stated that it wants to build on this base, rather than starting all over again.
Of course, given the whirlwind that was created during the Switch Pro rumour mill, it would be safe to just wait it
