The Last of Us season one is over, and just like the canonical events from the games, the season ended in a controversial choice. Not everyone agrees with Joel's decision, and even the showrunners debated changing the ending to be a little less abrupt, but ultimately, we got the ending that sets up The Last of Us Part Two, which might be airing as soon as early 2025.
One person who's deliberately staying away from the show's discourse is Pedro Pascal. In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, the Joel actor revealed he was being "actively ignorant" of what fans are saying about the season finale.

"I feel protected from what the conversation is in a way," Pascal said. "And I think that personally I haven't really been ready for it to sort of be over, so I've kept my distance from its finale in a way. It hasn't intruded upon my experience in terms of what people's opinions for or against are, in terms of a very specific decision the character makes. I guess I'm actively being ignorant about how everyone feels about it, but it hasn't been too hard to be, if that makes any sense. No one's yelled at me in the street. Or been like, 'How could you do that?'"
Even so, Pascal admitted he "can't help but be curious" about people's opinions. He'll find out what people are saying sooner or later, but maybe only after the fierce debate dies down.
