Vampire Survivors will likely not be getting a sequel unless the developer can come up with a “radically new” idea. The game’s creator Luca Galante made the statement in a recent interview with GameSpot, calling the sequel “unlikely”. Rather than working on a sequel, Galante believes that Vampire Survivors itself works as a great foundation for additional content.
“With the way Vampire Survivors is designed, we can deliver both new content and new game mechanics on the existing game, so why make a sequel?” he says. “I think that if we make a sequel or a spiritual successor, then we should offer something radically new.”
Vampire Survivors has seen quite a bit of post-launch support since its release in 2022, including a full-fledged DLC, titled Legacy of the Moonspell. The most recent update to the game, 1.3.0, was released back in February, adding a host of new quality-of-life features to Vampire Survivors.
Galante is currently in the midst of upgrading Vampire Survivors on to a new engine that would hopefully improve the game’s performance, especially in late-game scenarios where even the most powerful systems can suffer frame rate issues because of the number of things happening on screen.
