The leaker said that they were unsure if this change would feature as part of Season of the Deep, going on to describe how the new system would work. Instead of power being character-based, it will be account-based and shared with the player's fireteam applying the highest level to all participants. Gear score will be removed, with players being required to complete weekly or seasonal challenges to accumulate power, while also enabling players to use gear that had been sunsetted. Freezing Dart explained that one of the tag lines for the upcoming overhaul is «Use all your gear, all the time» indicating that Destiny 2 players would no longer be required to retire their gear every so often.
