Charlie Cox jokes about the only thing that could truly break up Daredevil and his on-again, off-again love interest Elektra. The romance between the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, Matt Murdock, and the assassin, Elektra Natchios is one of comics’ most enduring, albeit toxic, love stories. In 2003, the characters were brought to the big screen courtesy of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. And in 2016, Elodie Yung’s Elektra appears during Netflix’s Daredevil season 2, starring Cox as its titular vigilante.
Elektra is introduced as an assassin who, like Matt, trained under Stick before joining the ancient organization, Chaste. She fell in love with Matt during a mission in which she was instructed to bring him into Chaste, which is the catalyst for their conflicting views on violence and morality. At the end of season 2, Elektra sacrifices herself to save Matt. In The Defenders team-up miniseries, Elektra is resurrected by the Hand as the supervillain Black Sky. Of course, she realizes her love for Matt by the end of that series and sacrifices herself once again, leaving Matt to grieve throughout Daredevil season 3. If Elektra were to come back to life, there’s a good chance they’d rekindle their romance once again, as long as she goes easy on the F-bombs.

While Daredevil is a more mature show, it does go easy on its usage of swear words thanks to its altar-boy main character. Cox joked Elektra would be the one to say it, and it would likely be the end of her relationship with his character. Read the full quote
