The sequel to CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 is already in development, known by the codename "Project Orion", and developers with some serious credits have begun to assemble at the company's Boston studio (and a satellite studio in Vancouver). In a press release announcing the passing of another milestone, CDPR crowed about several high-profile additions to the development team.
While noting that «Project Orion is currently in the early stages of development», it introduced some higher-ups responsible for incubating the sequel. Dan Hernberg will serve as executive producer, previously as head of production at Amazon Games and lead product manager at Blizzard Entertainment. Ryan Barnard, formerly a game director at Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft (not to mention gameplay director at Hitman developer IO Interactive), will utilise his skills as design director.
Alan Villani is onboard as engineering director, bringing a wealth of technological know-how from years of working as VP of technology for WB Games, including technical direction on various Mortal Kombat titles. Anna Megill is an award-winning game writer, contributing narrative to games like Control, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Alexander Freed will also contribute on the narrative front, previously working as lead writer at BioWare on legendary titles like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
