Wanted to start a thread for this hopefully fantastic game. My hype for this is building and opened a chat for anyone else interested. I just pre-ordered the deluxe edition, not so much for what I get, but more of a thank you Capcom for making another Dragons Dogma. What is everyone hoping for in this game? What class are thinking of going with?
It's been a while since I played it, so I can't remember the specific vocation names, but I was playing a raw, offensive sorcerer. It was rough until roughly half way in but then...My God was that fun. Waiting for the right moment, looking for a good spot and then casting a 15 second spell that turns a chimera into dust within a few seconds. My first instinct for DD2 is to do exactly that again, just probably way cooler. Then again, I'll most likely play this multiple times and go for a warrior with a badass greatsword on my 2nd playthrough.

@dschons I was leaning sorcerer as well. I don't recall what I played in the original. I do remember following lemoneatingcows guide and that it was quite good. I remember save scumming to get a rare random early flaming knife or sword. That is about it through lol. I just remember how fantastic and unique everything was. Besides sorcerer the mystic spearhand class sounds interesting.
I’ve preordered the game, but I never played the first one. To be honest I’m a bit nervous about playing it. It seems pretty complicated with everything going on in combat. I think I’ll play as an archer and just hang back letting arrows fly lol
@Kyushutrail the first game is one of my favorites from PS3, but it’s been so long since it came out, I doubt that it will be essential to have played it before this new one. I’ve completely forgotten what the specific gameplay inputs were and have mostly forgotten the storyline (which was admittedly weak and not a key strength of the first game anyways)
But if I recall correctly, the combat isn’t any more complex than your average action rpg.
