Dragon's Dogma 2 players have discovered that catapults can do a lot more than just take down big enemies, as firing them in the correct place can actually uncover hidden areas.
As I'm sure every Arisen has discovered by now, Dragon's Dogma 2 is absolutely huge. While it's (thankfully) not quite on the same level as recent 100 plus hour RPGs like Baldur's Gate 3 and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, its world is one that's full of easy-to-miss details (like Pawns being able to catch you from the sky) and hidden secrets.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is hiding a lot of its more intricate mechanics, which means that players have been discovering some pretty interesting things that can be done in its world. One such discovery that has taken a lot of players by surprise is that the catapults that can be found in certain locations across the map can actually be used to uncover secret areas.
As originally reported by GamesRadar+ and discovered by Twitter user Peppo_LS, specific areas of Dragon's Dogma 2 have catapults that can be loaded with rocks and other throwable items and used to take down bigger foes with ease. That's not their only use, though - if they're fired at the right spot, they can unveil hidden areas with unique treasures.
I had Dragon's Dogma 2 pro and TheGamer's Lead Guides Editor Meg Pellicio run to the spot on the map shown above, which is named Ancient Battlegrounds for anyone else looking for secrets, to check out what the catapult can do, and she confirmed that loading them up with a boulder will reveal a hidden area.
Before you ask - no, you can't use the catapult to launch your Pawns. You monster.
It's a very neat hidden detail, and one that comes with its own rewards. In this case, going to where the boulder landed will reveal a small room containing a Seeker's Token (make sure to note down where you found it if it's your first one) and a Wakestone shard. Not the biggest reward in the game, but definitely worth taking the time to do.
