The announcement came directly from the developer, likely surprising fans everywhere. The reveal came in the last teaser for the Dead Cells DLC and will likely be the last surprise before fans explore Dracula's castle themselves once again.
Released in 2018, Dead Cells became one of the biggest independent success stories of all time. As of this writing, the game has moved over 5 million copies worldwide which has led to the developer creating a number of expansions to the game. The latest of these is the upcoming Dead Cells Return to Castlevania DLC which is currently set to be released on March 6th. As it turned out, however, the developer had one last surprise for fans everywhere.

Earlier this month the developer confirmed the release date for Dead Cells Return to Castlvania and showed off new footage for the upcoming game. In a recent video, the developer revealed that Castlevania protagonist Richter Belmont would be playable in the upcoming game. Players will have to discover the character in a secret level and will feature a move set similar to what he had in Symphony of the Night.
One of the oldest video game franchises in existence, the series' first installment, Castlevania was first released in 1986. Since then the franchise has produced several spinoffs, sequels, and spiritual successors. Currently, it is unclear whether publisher Konami intends to release any new installments, though it did publish the Castlevania Advance Collection in 2021.
