A pro player has highlighted a handy trick for avoiding lobbies where known cheaters are present in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The rollout of Ranked mode in Modern Warfare 2 has created what some gamers claim is an endemic cheating problem, and this handy tip might be the most potent counter available for legitimate players.
With the release of Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 on February 15, players received what most felt was a much-needed injection of multiplayer content into the game. While the new map and modes had a lukewarm reception, players were revitalized by the introduction of a Ranked mode within Modern Warfare 2. With competitive settings, a fully-fledged ELO and division system, and a dedicated map pool, gamers who had moved on from Modern Warfare 2 found themselves coming back to test their mettle in the new Ranked mode, however, along with returning players was a wave of hackers eager to cheat their way to rank 50.

Modern Warfare 2 pro player Gabriel Hamshaw, known by his handle, Aroma, shared their best tip for avoiding lobbies where known hackers are present. As soon as a Ranked lobby fills up, if a player notices a hacker, they can go to the channels menu, click on the lobby channel, find the settings menu for that channel, and finally hit leave lobby. This is a punishment-free way to leave a ranked game before it begins, dodging both a figurative bullet, as well as many ESP-assisted literal ones. The trick is far from foolproof, as it requires the key information of knowing a hacker's in-game name.
