Star Trek: Picard dropped a bombshell on fans: not only does Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) have a son (Ed Speleers), the child was born of a union between Picard and Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden). Now, Stewart spoke about what that means for the character.

Though the characters have gone their own way since the show ended, they're still connected in several ways: Picard's son with Dr. Crusher is a prime example.

In an interview with USA Today, Stewart revealed that Picard is quite furious with Dr. Crusher, whom he lost touch with for several decades. «When I learn that she is bringing up this child, who is now a young man, who is my son, it's enraging,» Stewart said. «The fury that she would hide this fact from me. The scene was so powerful, it was one of the great highlights of shooting Picard.»
Speleers, currently also starring in Netflix's You season 4, was also open about Jack Crusher's disappointment in his father. «It's like your dad being one of the most famous people in the world – a sports or Hollywood star – and knowing that person hasn't been in your life. But Jack is wanting to make his own mark and his own way,» Speelers said. «It's about him trying to figure out who he really is, what his purpose in life is.»
