After Sony forced one-man developer Lilith Walther to rebrand their PC kart racer inspired by Bloodborne, the game has reappeared as Nightmare Kart. A new trailer can be viewed above, which confirms the title will release on PC platforms like Steam and Itch.io for free on 31st May 2024.
As the YouTube description points out, you can look forward to racing 20 different characters around 16 courses, and the best part is it's now all «legally distinct». You can choose to play through the campaign — which contains boss fights — or engage in a battle mode versus other players.
It was claimed Sony got in touch with Lilith Walther in January to request the rebrand, which was taken as something of a positive: «The idea of having full creative control is kind of exciting!»

I would probably reach the Game Over screen before selecting the New Game option. Also, I hope Father Gas Can is a playable character.
A far better outcome than nuking the project outright. I’m glad Sony were able to recognise the hard work of the dev and reach an agreement. Still, this is one of the most brilliant and hilarious bits of fan promotion I’ve ever seen so I don’t know why Sony would have a bee in their bonnet about it, especially as it’s free.
A minor compromise all things considered. Hopefully it's just the character names that have changed and not the designs. This will be a hoot and a holla by the looks of it.
